Lemongrass
A unique aroma
Lemongrass, also known as “oil grass” or “fever grass”, is a tropical herbaceous plant cultivated for its stems and leaves with their unique aromatic qualities. Its fresh and tangy lemony flavour is very much appreciated. It is widely used in Asian cooking to season meat and fish dishes as well as soups and sauces. It is also an ingredient of choice for flavouring herbal teas.
Lemongrass is also used as a medicinal plant. In herbal teas, it is used to fight anxiety and insomnia, calm digestive problems, treat the flu, and reduce blood sugar levels. When applied in the form of poultices, it reduces lumbago and rheumatic pain. It is also a very good antiseptic for irritated skin and is an excellent insect repellent!
