The horned cucumber
Nicknamed the horned cucumber, the kiwano melon is a very surprising product!
Its flesh is juicy and mild; it is not acidic or bitter. Although it is not as sweet, its flavour resembles that of kiwi fruit.
It can be eaten raw on its own, or with savoury dishes or sweet desserts, for example in a fruit salad or to accompany fish.
The kiwano melon is rich in vitamins C and B6. It is also an excellent source of magnesium, calcium, potassium and iron. Moreover, it has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
